In order to promote its latest collection, popular brand On has installed a temporary off-grid shelter in Swiss Alps. This remote shelter is located between the Piz Lunghin mountain and the Lunghin Pass at an elevation of 2485 m (8152 ft). The shelter is accessible via foot.
The On Mountain Hut is clad in galvanized steel while the interior is finished in wood with a generous glazing to maximize the stunning and natural views.
There is small living area including seating and a table inside the off-grid living shelter. Other accessories are wood-burning stove, bathroom with shower, sink and toilet.
Accessible by ladder, one loft-style bedroom accommodates two with large windows. Running the off-grid, the shelter gets power from small roof-based solar panel system for interior lighting while rainwater and filtration system provides drinkable water. There is also a water tank to hold waste water.
The On Mountain Hut was designed to be easily disassembled and will be removed from the site in a year’s time so as to not leave any trace.
“The cabin is completely self-sufficient and will leave no waste behind,” says On. “A home for two, it is constructed from sustainable materials in keeping with the alpine setting. It is powered by energy from solar panels. We wanted it to have everything you need to get back to your source – back to nature – and nothing you don’t. Reduced to the maximum, distraction free”.
