The cave of seven sleepers is situated in Jordan. The cave is the place where seven sleepers hide themselves, a dog was also with them. The history of the cave relates to an incident that happened in the city of Ephesus around 250 AD. During the religious persecution by Roman emperor Decius, the seven sleepers were accused of following Christianity. They were given some time to recant their faith but they didn’t do so and preferred to follow Christianity. One night they left the city of Ephesus and hide themselves in this cave which is called the seven sleepers cave.
The whole story is mentioned in Quran (Surah Al-Kahf, verse 9–26), thus is important to Islam. The seven sleepers slept for a long period of 300 solar years, as mentioned a dog was also with them inside the seven sleepers cave. These seven sleepers are referred in Islam as “The People of the Cave“.
