We’ve seen video doorbells enabling us to see who’s at the door via an app installed on our smartphone. We’ve also seen smart door locks that enables us to digitally control to allow a person to the home. Thanks to Gate Labs combining the two ideas in one device and introduced a Gate Smart Lock.
It includes a deadbolt cylinder that replaces the existing deadbolt lock in just a few minutes using only two screws. Then it connects to home Wi-Fi network.
When someone presses the lock call button or even he just approaches the lock and trigger its motion detector, it’ll notify about it via the Gate Door App installed on the owner’s smartphone. Then the home owner can engage with the visitor in two way-video conversation with the person using lock’s built-in camera, mic and speaker. The second way is to unlock the door to let them enter if they seem trustworthy.
The Gate lock also has a traditional key slot with a LED keypad enabling the user to unlock the door using a passcode. One-time passcodes can be issued to people such as couriers dropping off packages, while time-bracketed passcodes (which are good for multiple successive days) can be given to houseguests who need access when you aren’t home.
The Gate Smart Lock has been priced at US$349. Watch the below video.
